Jesper Parnevik Sues J. Lindberg

Posted by The Common Golfer

2008 - jlindeberg - 4Jesper Parnevik is suing golf clothier J. Lindberg for not paying for his use in the company’s marketing.  The lawsuit seeks $1.3 million.

For years, Parnevik was the primary player on tour for J. Lindberg and at one point was a shareholder in the company.  Stefan Engstrom with J. Lindberg said, “It is sad that it has been like this, but his contract was in 2008. It is not true that we have used him in our marketing. Jesper has been valuable for the company and built up the brand, but our primary name the last five years is a Colombian player Camilo Villegas.”

I have done absolutely no research on this subject, but I do vaguely recall having seen Parnevik’s face on some J. Lindberg material somewhere over the past year.  More importantly…what ever happened to Parnevik?  He was always one of my most favorite players to watcy, and roughly 10 years ago he was one of the most dominant players on tour!

New Magnetic Golf Shirts Invoke “Mystic Physics”

l4 150x150 New Magnetic Golf Shirts Invoke Mystic PhysicsGreg Norman’s spring 2010 line of clothing will be featuring magnetic “ion” golf shirts.  Liquid titanium magnetic crystals spun into the polyester of the shirt,

“…creates beneficial negative ions, which balance the positive ions and increase serotonin levels.” The “ion” is similar in principle to the various bracelets and necklaces that some athletes wear, which they say uses the mystic physics of “minus ions” to improve an athlete’s performance and promote an overall sense of physical well being. Ryan Moore Wins First PGA Title

Posted by The Common Golfer

Ryan Moore Apparel 299x399 224x300 Ryan Moore Wins First PGA TitleCongratulations to Ryan Moore, who needed 3 holes of sudden-death at the Wyndham Championship, to win his first PGA title over Kevin Stadler.  Moore seems like a good person, and I always enjoy seeing good people win on tour.  However, I can’t decide if I like his sense of fashion or not.  As Geoff Shackelford put it, he is the first person to win on tour in a Castro cap and Al Capone shoes.  On Saturday, it appeared as if he was wearing a pair of Vans shoes, which left me wondering if there was a skateboard in his golf bag.

I applaud what Moore is doing though, in the sense that he’s bringing his own unique style on the course.  I also think it’s great that he’s bringing back older styles (like wearing a tie and vest), but adding a modern twist.  Although maybe someone could tell him that the vest/tie look would go better with something other than the skater shoes?  Either way, great job Ryan.  I hope to see more of you in the years to come, and hopefully winning on tour will bring popularity back to some of the fashions from decades back.
