Someone has pissed off the golf Gods in a major way. At first, it was morbidly fascinating when a man died while scuba diving for lost golf balls. Then it became eerily coincidental that just days later, a man fell to his death while retrieving a golf ball. At this point, it is no longer a coincidence…have golf courses developed some sort of blood-lust?
On October 8, in the UK, a 79 year old woman was struck in the head with a golf ball. The resulting injury led to her death a day later. The next day, in South Carolina, while trying to retrieve a golf ball from the water, a man was attacked by a 10-foot alligator! The alligator pulled him in to the water, where it proceeded to rip off his arm. Luckily, the man’s playing partners were able to pull him from the water. The gator was subsequently killed, and doctors were attempting to re-attach the man’s arm. There has been no word yet, as to whether the reattachment was successful. The best news, however, is the man survived.
If there is a moral to this story, it is this: wear a helmet and don’t go after lost golf balls. Be careful out there!
